Can't connect?
Let's find out why.

Files go straight between devices, so they need a way to reach each other.

Public server

Checks whether the public server can connect you to other networks. Google will see your IP address.

What to try

You're together

Join the same Wi-Fi.

No shared Wi-Fi, or it's a school, office or guest network? Turn on one phone's hotspot and connect the other to it. The files don't use mobile data.

You're far apart

Both on mobile data usually works. Some networks, like BSNL, don't support it yet.

On home Wi-Fi, turn on IPv6 in your router (see below). If it still fails, tap Try it when dropintab offers the public server.

Turning on IPv6

Open your router's settings page (the address is usually on the router's label, like 192.168.1.1) and turn on IPv6 for both the internet (WAN) and home network (LAN).

Keep the router's firewall on. dropintab still works with it.

Still stuck

Keep dropintab open on both devices with the screen on. Phones pause pages in the background.

Run the check above on both devices and compare.
